About

Eriocaulon sp. 'Sulawesi' originates from the unique, isolated aquatic ecosystems of Sulawesi, Indonesia, where its particular mineralization requirements have evolved in isolation from typical Southeast Asian softwater plants. It forms compact, star-like rosettes with narrow, somewhat stiff leaves that hold their shape beautifully in the aquarium, creating a structured, sculptural foreground element. Its exotic origin and collector's status make it one of the most sought-after Eriocaulon varieties among serious planted tank enthusiasts. It requires higher mineralization than most Eriocaulon species, reflecting the moderately mineral-rich waters of its Sulawesi lake habitat.

Care Guide

Requires Sulawesi-appropriate water chemistry — slightly harder than typical softwater Eriocaulon: GH 4–8, KH 2–5, pH 7.0–8.0. Use high-intensity lighting and CO2 injection. Dedicated Sulawesi mineral supplements help recreate native water chemistry. Fine substrate recommended. Grows slowly — do not disturb once established. A challenging but deeply rewarding species for specialist collectors.
