About

Fissidens splachnobryoides is a rare and highly collectible miniature Fissidens species originating from Southeast Asia, producing extraordinarily fine, densely packed fronds that form tight, jewel-like patches just 1 to 3 cm tall. Its microscopic scale and intricate structure make it one of the most visually refined and technically challenging mosses available in the hobby. At the correct scale it creates an impression of dense, ancient forest undergrowth in nano aquariums and pico tanks, and it is particularly prized for extreme close-up photography in competition aquascapes. Best attached to very small stones or driftwood fragments. Grows slowly and demands clean, stable water conditions and low-to-medium light.

Care Guide

Attach with fine thread or mesh to small hardscape pieces. Grows under low to medium light — CO2 is recommended for best density. Requires clean, soft, slightly acidic water with stable conditions; sensitive to sharp parameter swings. Grows very slowly — allow several months for full establishment. Best at temperatures below 25°C. Avoid disturbance once attached — the fine fronds can detach and drift.
