Taxiphyllum sp. 'Flame'
Origin: Southeast Asia
Flame Moss (Taxiphyllum sp. 'Flame') grows upright with twisted, flame-like fronds rather than spreading horizontally like Java moss. This gives it a unique, eye-catching appearance in planted aquariums. Easy to grow and attach to hardscape, it provides excellent shelter for fry and invertebrates.
Tie to driftwood or rocks with thread — roots in 4–6 weeks. Low to moderate light. Tolerates a range of water conditions. Grows slower than Java moss but develops into a more structured, upright shape. Prune regularly to prevent light blocking lower portions. CO2 accelerates growth but is not required.
