Limnobium laevigatum
Origin: South America
Limnobium laevigatum, the Amazon Frogbit, is one of the most popular floating plants for freshwater aquariums. Its round, spongey-textured leaves form an attractive floating rosette, and long roots hang below the surface providing cover for labyrinth fish, killifish, and shrimp fry. It grows rapidly, absorbing nitrate and phosphate from the water column. Ideal for breeding tanks, betta tanks, and biotope setups. Easily controlled by regular removal of excess rosettes.
Float freely at the water surface. Ensure some dry space between water surface and tank lid as leaves rot if submerged. Remove excess growth regularly. Low to medium light sufficient. Avoid placing under flow that would submerge leaves.
