Anubias gilletii
Also known as: Gillett's Anubias, Gilletii Anubias
Origin: Central Africa
Gillett's Anubias (Anubias gilletii) is one of the tallest Anubias species available in the hobby, capable of growing substantial specimens with broad leaves featuring striking, pale-veined patterning. It originates from the humid riverbanks of Central Africa and is well-suited as a background plant in large aquariums or as an emergent specimen in open-top paludariums. Despite its impressive size it shares the full low-maintenance profile of the genus.
Light: low to medium light; larger leaves benefit from moderate light intensity. CO2: not required; regular macro fertilisation supports the large leaf size. Attachment: anchor rhizome to very large driftwood or allow to root freely in open substrate with rhizome exposed. Trimming: remove old, lower leaves as the plant grows; the large fronds are easy to handle individually. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division.
