Anubias gracilis
Also known as: Graceful Anubias, Gracilis Anubias
Origin: West Africa
Graceful Anubias (Anubias gracilis) is a West African species that grows taller and more openly than most other Anubias, with long petioles elevating the leaf blades well above the substrate. This elevated habit allows it to occupy visual space without blocking light to lower plants and creates a distinctive, architectural presence in the midground. Like all Anubias, it is extremely slow-growing and virtually indestructible under normal aquarium conditions.
Light: low light; taller growth habit means it can reach available light without high intensity. CO2: not required; micronutrient fertilisation improves leaf quality. Attachment: anchor rhizome to large driftwood or place in substrate with rhizome exposed. Trimming: remove individual old or damaged leaves at the petiole base; does not require frequent trimming. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division.
