Hemianthus glomeratus
Also known as: Pearlweed, Pearl Grass
Origin: North America
Hemianthus glomeratus, commonly called Pearlweed, is a fine-stemmed North American stem plant bearing small, slightly elongated, bright-green leaves on densely branching stems that create a frothy, cloud-like appearance in the aquarium. The tissue culture form eliminates any pest-introduction risk. Growth is moderate to fast, and the plant is versatile enough to be trimmed as a carpet, shaped into a midground mound, or allowed to grow as a background filler. CO2 and high light are beneficial for the densest, most vibrant growth. Regular trimming every two to three weeks prevents stems from becoming leggy. Excellent for softening the transition between carpet and background zones in a layout.
Light: Medium–high CO2: Beneficial Fertilisation: Regular macro and micro dosing Placement: Foreground carpet to midground bush Propagation: Trim tops; side shoots develop readily
