Homalomena cf. cordata
Also known as: Cordata Homalomena, Heart-leaf Homalomena
Origin: Southeast Asia
Homalomena cf. cordata is a compact aroid species found in the humid understory of Southeast Asian rainforests, often growing along moist stream margins. Its heart-shaped leaves display a glossy surface and variable silver-green markings that create an attractive textural display. Like most Homalomena, it prefers the emergent conditions of a warm, humid paludarium over full submersion. It is a slow, reliable grower that tolerates the low light conditions of forest-floor simulation and requires only consistent moisture and warm temperatures.
Light: Low; 15–35 PAR or equivalent indirect natural light. CO2: Not required; high ambient humidity is far more important. Water: Keep substrate moist; avoid stagnant water around roots. Planting: Plant in rich, peat-based moist substrate in the emergent zone; avoid full submersion. Growth: Slow; propagate by division of offsets from the base.
