Antitrichia curtipendula
Also known as: Horn Moss, Antitrichia Moss
Origin: Europe, Asia
Horn Moss (Antitrichia curtipendula) is a large, robust terrestrial and semi-aquatic moss found across Europe and Asia. In aquariums it grows in stiff, upright tufts with thick, branching stems, creating a bold, almost prehistoric visual character on large driftwood pieces. It tolerates cool water and moderate flow and is best suited to larger tanks where its scale is proportionally appropriate.
Light: low to medium light; adapts well to varied light intensities. CO2: not required; tolerates low-tech conditions well. Attachment: wedge firmly into crevices or tie with thick cotton thread to large driftwood. Trimming: trim stiff outer branches to control size; stems are robust enough to handle scissors confidently. Growth: slow; propagate by separating tufts and securing to new hardscape.
