Hygrophila corymbosa
Origin: Southeast Asia
Hygrophila corymbosa, known as Giant Hygro or Temple Plant, is a robust, vigorous stem plant from Southeast Asia that creates a lush, tropical background presence in any freshwater aquarium. Its large, broad, bright green leaves grow in pairs along upright stems, and under moderate to bright lighting the undersides develop attractive reddish-pink hues that add a warm color dimension to the composition. It is extremely fast-growing under good conditions, providing natural competition with algae for nutrients and creating a rapidly established backdrop for new aquarium setups. One of the most dependable and widely sold aquarium plants in Belgian and Dutch shops, suitable for every experience level.
Plant in loose clusters in the background under medium lighting. No CO2 required. Grows rapidly — trim top portions regularly and replant the cuttings. Tolerant of a wide range of temperatures and water parameters. Add root tabs or liquid fertilizer for faster growth and deeper red undersides under stronger light. Excellent for absorbing excess ammonia in new tanks during cycling.
