Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig'
Also known as: Rosanervig, Pink-Veined Hygrophila, Sunset Hygro
Origin: India / Southeast Asia (mutant)
Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig' is a naturally occurring mutant form of the common Indian Waterweed, distinguished by its dramatic variegated appearance: the olive-green leaves are traced with bright pink-white veins that create a striking mosaic pattern visible from across the aquarium. Despite its exotic appearance, it retains the hardiness and adaptability of the parent species, tolerating a wide range of water parameters and performing well even in low-tech setups. Growth is slightly slower than standard H. polysperma, making it more manageable in aquariums. It is a perennial favourite for aquascapers seeking contrast and visual interest without high-maintenance demands.
Light: Medium (25–40 PAR); pink veining appears even under moderate lighting. CO2: Not required; optional CO2 improves growth and intensifies leaf variegation. Fertilisation: Basic regular fertilisation; tolerant of lower nutrient levels. Placement: Midground to background; striking as a contrast plant against plain-green species. Propagation: Trim 8–12 cm cuttings; roots extremely easily and grows reliably.
