Hygrophila sp. 'India'
Also known as: India Hygrophila, Indian Bronze Hygrophila
Origin: India
Hygrophila sp. 'India' is an unidentified collection form sourced from India that has found its way into the hobby through specialist aquatic plant importers. It produces broad, lance-shaped leaves with a subtle bronze-green sheen that adds warmth to the background of planted aquariums. Like most Hygrophila species, it is exceptionally adaptable, tolerating variable pH, hardness, and temperature ranges with ease. Fast growth makes it effective for new tank cycling and as a nutrient sponge, while its attractive foliage earns it a permanent place even in mature aquascapes. An excellent all-rounder for planted tank beginners and collectors seeking Indian botanical diversity.
Light: Low to medium (20–40 PAR); performs well across a broad lighting range. CO2: Not required; benefits from optional CO2 for faster, more compact growth. Fertilisation: Modest regular fertilisation sufficient; tolerates lower nutrient environments. Placement: Background in medium to large aquariums; suited to community planted tanks. Propagation: Cut 10–15 cm stem sections; roots readily under most conditions.
