Hygrophila sp. 'Rosanervig'
Also known as: Pink-veined Hygrophila, Rosanervig
Origin: Southeast Asia
Hygrophila sp. Rosanervig is thought to originate from Southeast Asia and is prized above all other Hygrophilas for its extraordinary leaf patterning: dark olive-green or bronze-green blade tissue is intricately divided by a network of prominent pale-pink to cream veins. The contrast between dark leaf and pale veins is most striking in medium to high light. It is a moderate grower that fits the midground well, and its unusual appearance makes it a conversation piece in any planted tank.
Light: Medium (30–60 PAR); brings out the best contrast in the vein patterning. CO2: Beneficial at 15–25 mg/L; improves leaf size and intensity of vein colouration. Fertiliser: Regular balanced NPK plus micronutrients; adequate iron maintains colour. Planting: Midground groups of 3–5 stems spaced 3–4 cm apart; trim every 2–3 weeks. Growth: Moderate; 20–35 cm; distinctive leaf pattern makes single specimens effective.
