Hygrorhiza aristata
Origin: South Asia (India, Bangladesh)
Hygrorhiza aristata, the Floating Grass, is an unusual floating aquatic grass from South Asia. Its narrow, strap-like leaves grow in fan-like clusters along a floating runner, creating a distinctive textured surface mat. It provides excellent cover for surface fish and fry and has a naturally delicate structure. Uncommon in the hobby; a great choice for Indian subcontinent or Southeast Asian biotope tanks. Provides spawning sites for bubble-nest builders.
Float freely at the water surface. Temperature 22–28 °C, neutral water. Medium light. Harvest excess runners regularly. Ideal with bettas, killifish, labyrinth fish. Sensitive to cold water — keep above 20 °C.
