Taxiphyllum barbieri
Origin: Southeast Asia
Java Moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri) is the most widely used aquarium moss in the world, forming dense, lush green mats over any surface it is attached to. Completely undemanding, it thrives in almost any freshwater conditions from near-freezing to tropical temperatures and in low light. It is an essential element in aquascaping, serving as ground cover, carpeting on rocks and wood, and critical shelter for fry and invertebrates.
Tie or glue small portions to driftwood, rocks, or mesh for carpets. Can also float freely. Thrives in low light without CO2. Grows faster with additional CO2 and nutrients. Trim regularly to prevent the interior from dying due to light deprivation. A must-have plant for shrimp and breeding tanks.
