Lagenandra meeboldii
Also known as: Pink Meeboldii, Pink Lagenandra
Origin: India, Sri Lanka
Lagenandra meeboldii 'Pink' is a soft rose to salmon-pink leafed form of this attractive aroid species from India and Sri Lanka. The broad, slightly corrugated leaves display a pale but warm pink colouration that stands out distinctively among the deep greens and reds of a typical planted aquarium or paludarium. Its colours are best expressed in moderate to good lighting with adequate iron and micronutrient supplementation. Like all Lagenandra, it can be grown fully submerged or in emersed culture, making it highly versatile. It grows steadily and is long-lived with appropriate care. A graceful and unusual specimen plant for the adventurous aquascaper.
Light: Moderate; good light sustains the pink pigmentation — insufficient light causes reversion to green. CO2: Optional; CO2 supplementation encourages fuller leaf size and richer colouration. Fertilisation: Iron and micronutrient supplementation important for maintaining pink leaf tones. Placement: Midground to background in paludarium or aquarium; a natural focal point. Propagation: Rhizome division; cut and replant healthy sections with well-developed roots.
