About

Lagenandra sp. 'Kerala Red' is a stunning red-leaved species from the Kerala state of India, producing broad, lance-shaped leaves in rich burgundy to dark reddish-brown tones that are especially intense on the undersides. Closely related to Cryptocoryne and sharing similar care requirements, it prefers soft to moderately hard water with low to medium light. An exceptional and underutilized genus for paludarium and submerged aquarium use.

Care Guide

Plant in nutrient-rich substrate with the crown above the substrate surface. Thrives under medium light with CO2 supplementation for best colour. Tolerates low light but colours are less vivid. Avoid dramatic water parameter swings. Propagates by side shoots from the rhizome.
