Lilaeopsis chinensis
Also known as: Chinese Micro Sword, Eastern Micro Sword
Origin: Eastern China / Taiwan
Lilaeopsis chinensis is a compact micro sword from eastern China and Taiwan, producing narrow, cylindrical blades that rarely exceed 5 cm in height — shorter and finer than the well-known L. brasiliensis. The tissue culture form arrives algae and snail free, ready to be divided and planted in rows or random clusters across the foreground. It spreads via rhizomes and runners at a steady pace and tolerates a broad range of conditions including slightly hard water, making it accessible to beginners. Under low light it grows more erect; under higher intensity it stays flatter and denser. CO2 supplementation is beneficial but not essential. Ideal for nano and pico aquariums where large foreground plants would be out of scale.
Light: Medium–high CO2: Beneficial Fertilisation: Regular liquid micro and macro dosing Placement: Foreground carpet or midground accent Propagation: Runners spread naturally; divide rhizome clumps
