Limnobium laevigatum
Origin: South America
Limnobium laevigatum — South American spongeplant or Amazon frogbit — produces rosettes of round, shiny leaves with dense white fibrous roots below. The roots provide excellent shelter and grazing for small fish and shrimp. It is hardier than European frogbit and tolerates warm, soft water well. A classic planted tank floating cover plant. The spongy underside of the leaf gives it characteristic buoyancy.
Light: medium-high. Floating. Very easy. Trim roots if they become too long/dense. Ideal surface cover for bettas, tetras, and small nano fish.
