Lindernia rotundifolia
Also known as: Round Leaf Lindernia, Roundleaf Falsepimpernel
Origin: Asia
Lindernia rotundifolia is a small aquatic plant native to Asia, found in rice paddies, ditches, and along stream margins. Its compact, rounded leaves are arranged in opposite pairs along erect stems, giving it a tidy, structured appearance suited to the midground of planted tanks. It is one of the more undemanding members of the Linderniaceae family, tolerating moderate light and a range of water parameters without CO2 injection. Its manageable growth rate makes it easy to maintain and it provides pleasing green texture in compositions where fine or broad-leaved plants dominate.
Light: Low to medium (20–50 PAR); adapts well to most standard aquarium lighting. CO2: Not required; optional CO2 at 10–20 mg/L improves growth rate and compactness. Fertiliser: Weekly balanced liquid fertiliser; low nutrient demands and tolerant of variation. Planting: Midground groups of 5–7 stems spaced 2–3 cm; trim every 3 weeks. Growth: Moderate; 10–25 cm; neat, uniform growth makes maintenance straightforward.
