Ludwigia arcuata
Origin: North America
Ludwigia arcuata is a needle-leaved stem plant that produces narrow, bright red to orange-red leaves under high light conditions. Under blue LED lighting the red colouration is extraordinary. It is a moderately fast grower and responds dramatically to iron fertilisation — iron deficiency causes rapid greening of the leaves. CO2 is beneficial but plants adapt to no-CO2 environments with slower, less vivid growth.
Light: high (red colouration). Iron fertilisation essential. CO2 beneficial. pH 5.5–7.5. Temperature: 22–28°C. Trim regularly. Stunning contrast against green backgrounds.
