Ludwigia brevipes
Also known as: Narrow-Leaf Water Primrose, Slender Ludwigia
Origin: North America
Ludwigia brevipes is a slender North American stem plant bearing narrow, lance-shaped leaves that develop attractive olive-green to orange-red colouration depending on light intensity. The tissue culture form ensures a clean, vigorous start without pests or algae. Growth is moderate, making it easier to manage than faster-growing Ludwigia species. Under medium light the leaves stay more olive-green; under bright light with CO2 they shift toward warm orange and reddish hues. It pairs beautifully with contrasting green stem plants and provides a subtler colour accent compared to more intensely red Ludwigia varieties. Plant in groups of 5–7 stems and trim regularly to encourage bushy side shoot growth.
Light: Medium–high CO2: Beneficial Fertilisation: Iron-rich micro and balanced macro dosing Placement: Background Propagation: Top cuttings replanted; side shoots from trimmed stems
