Ludwigia inclinata
Also known as: Cuba Ludwigia, Orange Ludwigia Cuba
Origin: Cuba / Caribbean
Ludwigia inclinata 'Cuba' is regarded as one of the most spectacular plants in the aquarium hobby, producing broad, fan-shaped leaves of intense orange to red colouration on thick, upright stems. The tissue culture form provides a clean, pest-free starting point for this demanding and rewarding plant. It is strictly a high-tech specimen — requiring very high light, consistent CO2 injection, and rich macro-micro fertilisation to maintain its extraordinary colouration and vigorous growth. The leaves are broadest near the top of each stem, creating a layered visual effect reminiscent of tropical flowers. Plant in groups of 3–5 stems as a centrepiece or focal point in the mid-background. Soft, slightly acidic water is essential.
Light: Very high CO2: Required (25–35 mg/L) Fertilisation: Heavy macro and micro; iron and potassium are critical Placement: Background centrepiece Propagation: Top cuttings; side shoots after trimming
