Ludwigia inclinata
Also known as: Pantanal Ludwigia, Pantanal Red Ludwigia
Origin: Brazil (Pantanal)
Ludwigia inclinata 'Pantanal' is a highly prized variant of L. inclinata from the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil, distinguished by its broader, more intensely red-crimson leaves compared to the Cuba form. The tissue culture form ensures a contaminant-free introduction to this demanding but spectacular plant. It requires the same high-intensity conditions as L. inclinata 'Cuba' — very bright lighting, CO2 injection, and rich fertilisation — but rewards the effort with extraordinary deep red colouration that few plants can match. The broad, fanned leaves create a striking layered canopy in the background. Use as a centrepiece or statement plant in dedicated high-tech aquascapes. Soft, slightly acidic water produces the best results.
Light: Very high CO2: Required Fertilisation: Heavy macro and micro; iron supplementation essential Placement: Background centrepiece Propagation: Top cuttings; new shoots emerge from base after trimming
