Ludwigia sp.
Also known as: Guinea Ludwigia, Copper Ludwigia
Origin: Africa (Guinea region, uncertain)
Ludwigia sp. 'Guinea' is a tissue culture stem plant of uncertain origin whose narrow, lance-shaped leaves develop attractive olive-green to deep reddish-copper colouration under medium to high light. The gradual leaf colour transition from stem base to growing tip adds a natural, warm glow to the background of planted aquariums. It is less intensely red than popular cultivars like L. inclinata or L. glandulosa, making it a good intermediate choice for aquarists building toward high-tech setups. CO2 is beneficial but not strictly required. Growth is moderate and the plant branches freely after trimming. The tissue culture form provides a clean, pest-free introduction. An excellent colour bridge between neutral greens and vibrant reds in Dutch aquascapes.
Light: Medium–high CO2: Beneficial Fertilisation: Macro and micro liquid dosing; iron for colour Placement: Background Propagation: Top cuttings; side shoots after trimming
