Ludwigia sp. 'Super Red Mini'
Also known as: Super Red Mini Ludwigia, Dwarf Super Red
Origin: Cultivar (Asia)
Ludwigia sp. Super Red Mini is a selected cultivar producing smaller leaves and more compact growth than standard Ludwigia repens, while achieving more intense red colouration. The miniature stature makes it ideal for midground placement or as a foreground colour accent in larger tanks. It demands high light and CO2 to perform at its best; under suboptimal conditions leaves fade to orange-green. Its slow growth makes maintenance less demanding than fast-growing red plants.
Light: High (70–100 PAR); essential for deep red colour; insufficient light causes fading. CO2: Required at 25–35 mg/L; compact leaf size is partially dependent on CO2 levels. Fertiliser: Daily micronutrient and iron dosing recommended; ensure balanced NPK. Planting: Midground groups of 5–7 stems spaced 1–2 cm apart; trim every 2–3 weeks. Growth: Moderate; 10–25 cm; maintains compact form with regular trimming.
