Micranthemum tweediei
Also known as: Pearl Weed, Monte Carlo Pearl Weed
Origin: Argentina
Micranthemum tweediei 'Pearl Weed' is a tissue culture variant selected for its particularly vigorous lateral growth and the characteristic small, rounded, bright-green leaves that pearl beautifully in strong light. It can be used as a carpeting plant in medium-light setups or trimmed into rounded midground mounds in higher-light, CO2-injected tanks. The sterile medium it arrives in eliminates hitchhiker pests and algae, making for a clean introduction to any aquascape. Growth is noticeably faster than standard Monte Carlo when given adequate nutrients. A forgiving and rewarding choice for intermediate aquarists, particularly in Dutch-style plantings where precise shapes and lush colour are valued.
Light: Medium–high CO2: Beneficial Fertilisation: Regular macro and micro dosing Placement: Foreground carpet or midground mound Propagation: Trim tops and replant; side runners spread naturally
