Riccardia chamedryfolia
Origin: Cosmopolitan (found in Asia, Europe)
Riccardia chamedryfolia, commonly called Mini Pellia or Mini Coral Moss, is a diminutive freshwater liverwort whose fine, branching, deep-green fronds create jewel-like texture when attached to hardscape. Highly prized in Iwagumi and Nature Aquarium layouts for its miniature scale, it can be tied or glued to rocks and driftwood. Unlike true mosses, it lacks rhizoids for direct attachment and requires gentle flow to prevent debris accumulation in its fronds.
Attach to hardscape using thread or aquascaping glue. Provide medium light and gentle flow. CO2 supplementation significantly improves growth density. Keep water clean; debris trapped in fronds can cause die-back. Propagate by dividing and relocating fragments.
