Micranthemum tweediei
Origin: Argentina
Micranthemum tweediei 'Monte Carlo' has become the standard foreground carpet plant in Dutch and Belgian aquascaping shops, offering a dense, bright-green mat of small rounded leaves that is significantly more forgiving than the classic Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba'. Originally from Argentina, it grows well even without CO2 injection under moderate to high lighting, making it accessible to a wide range of aquascapers. The tissue culture format ensures pest- and algae-free plants ready for immediate planting.
Divide into small portions and plant individually into fine substrate or nutrient-rich soil. CO2 supplementation and good flow significantly improve density and lateral spreading. Trim regularly once carpet is established to maintain a low, compact form. Provide medium to high light for best results.
