Anubias barteri var. angustifolia
Also known as: Narrow Leaf Anubias, Angustifolia Anubias
Origin: West Africa
Narrow Leaf Anubias (Anubias barteri var. angustifolia) is a natural variety of Anubias barteri from West Africa, distinguished by its lanceolate, significantly narrower leaves compared to the standard barteri form. It grows at the same very slow pace typical of all Anubias species and is equally undemanding, thriving in low light without CO2. Its slender leaves contrast beautifully with the broader foliage of other plants in the midground.
Light: low light; one of the most shade-tolerant plants in the hobby. CO2: not required; liquid fertiliser maintains deep-green leaf colour. Attachment: tie or glue rhizome to hardscape; burying the rhizome causes rot. Trimming: remove old or yellow leaves at the rhizome; the slow growth requires only occasional maintenance. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division every 12–18 months.
