Nymphaea 'Escarboucle'
Origin: France (Latour-Marliac, 1909)
Nymphaea 'Escarboucle' bears large, vivid crimson-red flowers with contrasting orange stamens and is widely considered one of the finest red water lilies ever bred. Introduced in France in 1909 by Latour-Marliac, it remains a benchmark variety in European water garden collections for its intense colour, large flower size, and reliable, prolific blooming. A long-standing favourite at Belgian and Dutch water plant nurseries.
Plant at 40–100 cm water depth in full sun with aquatic loam. Feed monthly with aquatic fertilizer tablets from April to September. Divide every 3–5 years when the root mass becomes congested. Remove spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering through the season.
