Nymphaea 'Gonnère'
Origin: France (Latour-Marliac, 1914)
Nymphaea 'Gonnère' is the most extensively double white water lily widely cultivated, producing snow-white, peony-like blooms packed with numerous petals that float just above the water surface in a spectacular display. Introduced by Latour-Marliac in 1914, it is slower to establish than single-flowered varieties but rewards patience with extraordinary flowers and reliable summer-long blooming. A collector's favourite at Belgian and Dutch water plant nurseries.
Plant at 30–60 cm water depth in full sun with rich aquatic loam. May take 1–2 seasons to establish and flower well. Feed monthly with aquatic fertilizer tablets. Divide every 4–5 years. Slower to establish but extremely long-lived once settled.
