Nymphaea 'James Brydon'
Origin: USA (Dreer, 1900)
Nymphaea 'James Brydon' is celebrated for its cup-shaped, fragrant deep rose-pink to carmine-red flowers with rich orange stamens that emerge abundantly throughout summer. A long-standing favourite in European water gardens introduced in 1900, it is notably more shade-tolerant than most hardy water lilies, making it an excellent choice for partially shaded ponds and water gardens under dappled light. Suited to depths of 30–80 cm.
Suitable for partially shaded positions where other water lilies would struggle. Plant at 30–80 cm depth in aquatic loam. Feed monthly during the growing season with aquatic fertilizer. Divide every 3–4 years when the root mass becomes congested. Remove spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming.
