Nymphaea lotus — Red Tiger Lotus

Nymphaea lotus var. rubra (Red Tiger Lotus) starts as a small red-mottled bulb and develops into a stunning aquatic lily with deep wine-red to maroon-speckled leaves. In full-size tanks it will produce long-stemmed surface lily pads. The surface pads can be removed to maintain lower rosette growth.

Plant bulb shallowly — half above substrate. Nutrient-rich substrate accelerates growth. Remove surface lily pads to keep growth bushy and low. High light promotes best red colouration. CO2 and root tabs improve growth. May go dormant between growth spurts — do not discard the bulb.
