Nymphaea stuhlmannii
Origin: East Africa (Tanzania)
Nymphaea stuhlmannii is a prized East African aquarium lily bearing striking, wavy-edged leaves that display a rich mosaic of green, reddish-brown, and purple hues under aquarium lighting. Submerged leaves remain relatively compact compared to more vigorous lily species, making it manageable in aquariums of moderate size. Growing from a small bulb, it rewards aquarists with bold, colorful architectural foliage that contrasts beautifully with conventional green background stem plants.
Plant bulb shallowly in nutrient-rich substrate. Provide medium lighting. Remove floating leaves to channel growth into compact, decorative submerged leaves. Supplement with root fertilizer tablets for vigorous growth. Tolerates a range of water hardness.
