Nymphaea 'Sunny Pink'

Nymphaea 'Sunny Pink' is a compact cultivar with a tropical character, producing an abundance of soft-pink star-shaped flowers with bright yellow stamens throughout the warm growing season. The flowers are of modest size but are produced in exceptional quantity relative to the plant's footprint, making this an excellent candidate for tub ponds, container water gardens, and smaller heated water features. The floating pads are rounded and mid-green with a clean, attractive appearance.

This cultivar performs best in warm conditions — it behaves like a tropical lily in warm weather, producing flowers continuously and vigorously. In cooler temperate climates it can be grown as a warm-season plant, brought into a heated greenhouse or aquarium before first frost. Its compact nature makes it easy to overwinter even in small aquaria.

'Sunny Pink' is a good introduction to water lily cultivation for those with limited outdoor space, and its prolific flowering habit is reliably rewarding.

Light: Full sun to high light essential for continuous flowering. CO2: Not required. Fertilisation: Aquatic fertiliser tabs every 6 weeks during the growing season. Placement: Small heated pond or tub at 20–50 cm depth; minimum 15 cm planting container. Propagation: Side tubers detached in spring; or viviparous plantlets if produced by the cultivar.
