Nymphoides spec. 'Taiwan'
Also known as: Taiwan Nymphoides, Taiwan Floatingheart
Origin: Taiwan
Nymphoides spec. 'Taiwan' is a dwarf floatingheart form that has become popular in the Taiwanese and East Asian aquascape hobby for its delicately proportioned round floating pads and the graceful way its slender stems trail beneath the surface. Unlike the larger Nymphoides species that can overrun a tank, the Taiwan form is compact and manageable, making it suitable for mid-sized open-top Nature aquariums where it adds a natural pond surface without excessive shading of submerged plants. Its small yellow flowers bloom above the water in good light conditions.
Light: Medium; 35–60 PAR; floating leaves self-orient for light capture. CO2: Not required; optional CO2 stimulates faster runner production. Water: pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Planting: Plant rhizome in substrate or allow to float freely; trim runners to control spread. Growth: Moderate; monitor floating leaf coverage to prevent excessive surface shading.
