Anubias nana 'Petite'
Also known as: Petite Anubias, Nana Petite, Dwarf Anubias
Origin: Cultivated (West Africa origin)
Petite Anubias (Anubias nana 'Petite') is a tissue-culture-popularised miniature cultivar of Anubias nana that remains extremely compact, with individual leaves rarely exceeding 1.5 cm in diameter. It is the go-to anubias for nano tanks and shrimp aquariums where it provides a perfectly proportioned low-maintenance plant that does not outscale its surroundings. Like all Anubias it is virtually indestructible in typical aquarium conditions.
Light: low light; thrives in even very dimly lit nano aquariums. CO2: not required; trace element supplementation maintains the deep green colouration. Attachment: attach to tiny pebbles or driftwood pieces using superglue gel; ideal for micro-hardscape detail. Trimming: remove old leaves individually at the base; the small scale means maintenance is quick and precise. Growth: very slow; propagate by dividing the rhizome into segments with 2–3 leaves.
