Pogostemon erectus
Origin: India
This narrow-leaved form of Pogostemon erectus bears finely divided, pine-needle-like leaves that form tight, columnar stems ideal for vertical accents or background pillars in aquascapes. It grows vigorously under CO2 injection and bright light, quickly filling space with lush green texture. The narrow-leaf form provides a slightly finer texture than the standard form, giving extra detail to aquascape compositions. A versatile and rewarding high-tech stem plant.
High light (50–100+ µmol/m²/s), CO2 injection recommended for best growth. pH 6.5–7.5, temperature 22–28°C, GH 5–15, KH 2–8. Plant in nutrient-rich substrate or dose liquid fertiliser regularly. Trim tops regularly to maintain bushy, dense growth; replant cuttings to fill gaps. Moderate flow improves CO2 distribution.
