Proserpinaca palustris
Origin: Cuba, Caribbean
Proserpinaca palustris 'Cuba' TC is a tissue-cultured form of one of aquascaping's most spectacular stem plants, with deeply serrated, comb-like leaves that transform from green to brilliant orange and red as they mature under high light intensity. The Cuba variant is more compact and more deeply serrated than the standard form, making it perfect for detailed high-tech aquascapes. The tissue culture origin ensures complete freedom from pests and pathogens.
High light (80–150+ µmol/m²/s) and CO2 injection required for best colour development. pH 5.5–7.5, temperature 22–28°C, GH 2–12, KH 0–6. Nutrient-rich substrate or regular liquid fertiliser dosing. Prune regularly to maintain compact growth; plant cuttings will root readily. Red-orange colour intensifies as nitrate levels decrease — manage nutrients carefully.
