Anubias pynaertii
Also known as: Pynaert's Anubias, Pynaertii Anubias
Origin: Central Africa
Pynaert's Anubias (Anubias pynaertii) is a large, rare Anubias species from Central Africa, named after Belgian botanist Edouard Pynaert. Its leaves are notably textured with deep ribbing and prominent venation, giving them a highly tactile, dimensional appearance. It is rarer than many other Anubias species in the hobby and is sought after by collectors who appreciate its botanical distinction alongside standard low-maintenance anubias care.
Light: low light; performs well in shaded positions typical of its rainforest origin. CO2: not required; supplement with micronutrients for best leaf texture development. Attachment: secure rhizome to large driftwood; can also grow as a specimen plant on open substrate. Trimming: remove old fronds at the rhizome base; low-frequency trimming needed given slow growth. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division into sizeable sections.
