Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans)

Phyllanthus fluitans produces heart-shaped leaves that turn vivid red under strong lighting, complemented by bright red dangling roots that provide spawning sites and cover for surface-dwelling fish. One of the most visually stunning floating plants available, it grows by runners that can quickly cover the surface. Requires high light to develop its characteristic red colouration.

Float on surface in well-lit aquarium. High light required for red coloration (green in low light). pH 6.0–8.0, temperature 22–30°C, GH 2–15, KH 0–8. Fertilise with diluted liquid fertiliser for best growth. Spreads via runners — thin regularly. Excellent natural nitrate reducer. Provides excellent fry and shrimp shelter in planted tanks.
