Phyllanthus fluitans
Origin: South America
Phyllanthus fluitans — the red root floater — is a floating plant with small, round green to reddish leaves and vivid crimson, dangling roots. Under high lighting the leaf tops turn vivid red-orange. It provides excellent surface coverage for shy fish (bettas, surface-oriented fish), shelter for fry, and the red roots are a favourite grazing area for shrimp. It is a relatively fast spreader and easy to control by net-removal.
Light: medium-high (for red colouration). Floating — no planting required. High humidity preferred. Trim by removing excess portions. Ideal for betta tanks and shrimp aquariums.
