Rotala nanjean
Origin: Myanmar
Rotala nanjean is a rare species originating from Myanmar with graceful, elongated leaves that display a rich green-to-red gradient as light intensity increases. Less commonly available in the hobby than its Southeast Asian relatives, it is prized by collectors for its unique leaf shape and beautiful transitional coloration. Soft, slightly acidic water with CO2 supplementation produces optimal growth rates and the best pigmentation.
Requires soft, acidic water and high-intensity lighting to develop full red coloration. Inject CO2 at 20–30 ppm and dose liquid fertilisers regularly. Trim stems periodically and replant the tops for denser coverage. Avoid hard, alkaline conditions which prevent red pigment formation. An excellent choice for Dutch lanes or specimen stem plant groupings.
