Rotala rotundifolia
Also known as: Gia Lai Rotala, Narrow Leaf Rotala
Origin: Vietnam
Rotala rotundifolia Gia Lai originates from the Gia Lai province of Vietnam and is characterised by noticeably narrower, more elongated leaves compared to the standard round-leaf form. Under optimal conditions with strong light and CO2 the leaves develop a striking orange-pink tone. Its unique leaf morphology makes it visually distinct from other Rotala rotundifolia forms, and it is sought after by collectors wanting to complete a full Rotala rotundifolia collection.
Light: High (70–100 PAR); critical for full orange-pink leaf colour. CO2: Required at 25–35 mg/L; growth stalls and colour fades without supplementation. Fertiliser: Comprehensive NPK plus elevated iron and trace elements dosed frequently. Planting: Small background groups; trim tops every 1–2 weeks for dense, colourful growth. Growth: Fast; 20–35 cm; new tips show the best colouration.
