Rotala sp. 'Green'
Also known as: Green Rotala, Rotala Green
Origin: Asia
Rotala sp. 'Green' is a distinct form or close relative of Rotala rotundifolia that maintains bright green colouration across a wider range of light intensities, without the pink-red shift typical of the standard species. This makes it exceptionally useful in aquascape palette planning where a reliable, non-reddening green column is needed. It grows at a similar fast pace to other Rotala species and is equally easy to trim and replant, making it one of the most accessible specialty stem plants in the trade.
Light: Medium; 35–60 PAR; stays green even under higher light. CO2: Beneficial; 15–25 ppm for compact internodes. Water: pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Planting: Plant groups of 5–7 stems in the background; trim tops every 2–3 weeks. Growth: Fast; a high-yield trimming plant ideal for regular maintenance routines.
