Rotala sp. 'Vietnam H'ra Dark' is the most intensely pigmented selection within the Vietnamese H'ra lineage, maintaining near-maroon to deep burgundy foliage even in moderate light conditions where lighter H'ra forms would fade to pink. This exceptional colour retention under variable lighting makes it particularly valuable for aquascapers who cannot maintain peak light intensity throughout the tank. The leaves are slightly broader than standard H'ra, with a deep, almost velvety colouration that is unmatched among Rotala forms. It remains a highly sought-after rarity traded mainly through specialist aquatic plant communities and collector networks worldwide.

Light: High (50+ PAR); colour remains near-maroon even at moderate levels — a key advantage. CO2: Required at 20–30 mg/L; maintains compact form and deepens already dark colouration. Fertilisation: Iron-rich comprehensive dosing; soft, acidic water enhances colour expression. Placement: Background to midground focal grouping; pairs dramatically with bright greens.
