Rotala wallichii
Origin: Southeast Asia (Thailand, Malaysia)
Rotala wallichii TC is a tissue-cultured version of this popular fine-leafed stem plant, presenting hair-thin, needle-like leaves arranged in dense whorls that develop delicate pink-to-red coloration under high light. The exceptionally soft, feathery texture creates beautiful contrast with bold-leafed plants and is a staple in high-end aquascaping. The tissue-culture format ensures an algae-free, snail-free specimen ideal for sensitive or high-tech planted setups.
High-intensity lighting and CO2 injection (20–35 ppm) are required for compact growth and pink-red colouration. Plant in groups of 5–10 stems for impact. Trim regularly to prevent the base from losing leaves. Soft, acidic water enhances colour. Sensitive to nutrient deficiencies — dose comprehensive micros and iron regularly.
