Sagittaria subulata
Origin: North / South America
Sagittaria subulata — the dwarf or narrow-leaved Sagittaria — is a compact, easy-growing grass-like plant that forms loose carpets in the foreground. Unlike most carpet plants it grows well without CO2 injection and tolerates hard, alkaline water — making it one of the few foreground plants suitable for Malawi/Tanganyika cichlid tanks without plants. It spreads via runners and forms a loose, natural-looking lawn.
Light: medium. No CO2 required. Tolerates hard, alkaline water. Temperature: 18–28°C. Spreads via runners. One of the easiest carpet/foreground plants for non-CO2 setups.
