Sagittaria subulata
Origin: North and South America
Sagittaria subulata (Dwarf Sagittaria) in potted form is a versatile grass-like plant that serves as a foreground or midground plant in smaller tanks and as a background plant in nano aquariums. It spreads readily via runners to create attractive informal lawns. One of the most consistently available and affordable potted plants in Belgian and Dutch shops, it suits beginners and experienced aquascapers alike.
Remove pot and rockwool before planting. Space individual runners 2–3 cm apart in the substrate. No CO2 is required — a good choice for low-tech aquariums. Supplement liquid fertilisers for faster spreading. Tolerant of a wide range of water parameters including moderately hard water. Trim any flowering stems that emerge above the water surface.
